* fix(spa): search hears a refused local network from the connectionChristophe Besson19 hours2-15/+24
| | | | | | | | On a Pixel, Chrome still lists the refused address when search gives up, so nothing tells it from a silent node. The connection given up on now runs to its own verdict and the refusal is reported then. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(spa): search names the groups refused the local networkChristophe Besson19 hours3-6/+35
| | | | | | | | Search gives up before ICE does, so the refusal is read from the connection then; the walk moves on to the group's other nodes, and the page lists the refused groups with a link to each. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(spa): a reconnect refused the local network says soChristophe Besson20 hours9-4/+74
| | | | | | | | Each failed attempt reaches the group page, which shows the same message and buttons as at opening while the reconnect goes on. Try now gives up an attempt still waiting on ICE and starts the next at once. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(spa): a film playing waits for the session after a reconnectChristophe Besson24 hours1-5/+24
| | | | | | | Stream credit sent before the new handshake was refused, and the node's "Handshake required" replaced the film. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(spa): follow the device to another networkChristophe Besson28 hours1-0/+267
| | | | | | | | | | | Moving between mobile data and the node's Wi-Fi left the connection on the network it had left until ICE gave up, and a group that had failed was never tried again: the Android application had to be killed. A change of network or an ICE disconnection now pings the session and reconnects one that does not answer, wakes a reconnect backing off, and retries a group page left on an error. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(spa): say when the device refuses the local networkChristophe Besson28 hours1-0/+156
| | | | | | | | | | Android 17 makes the local network a permission of the application, and Chrome 155 targets it: without it the node's LAN addresses are dropped and a group on the phone's own Wi-Fi failed with "DataChannel closed". The transport now names that refusal and the group page says what to allow. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(spa): a reconnect no longer fails the download it reconnects forChristophe Besson2 days1-0/+230
| | | | | | | | | | While a reconnect ran, every request went out, not only its handshake: a chunk retried between the new channel opening and the proof got "Handshake required", which no retry treats as a dropped connection. Only the opening messages pass now; a replaced channel's late close event is ignored, and a closed channel is retried like a lost one. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(android): no text messages backup, and one build againChristophe Besson3 days1-9/+0
| | | | | | | READ_SMS sits behind restricted settings outside a store and Play keeps it for the default SMS application: not worth a second build. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* refactor(chat): no thread_id — chat has no threadsChristophe Besson3 days1-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Nothing ever set it (the page and the CLI sent null) and nothing read it (the node's get_thread had no caller). It is no longer sent by the page or the CLI, in clear or in the sealed payload, nor relayed or served by the node; get_thread and its index are gone, and the protocol and design docs no longer name it. The node still accepts a chat_msg carrying one, from the desktop apps and CLIs already installed, and drops it. The column stays, empty, in chat.db: a node downgraded to an older version names it in every query. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* test(hub): pin the Android Sync probe to EnglishChristophe Besson5 days1-1/+3
| | | | | | | The probe followed the browser's language, so its assertions on English labels failed on a machine set to French. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix: keep the photo lightbox's close button on a phone screenChristophe Besson6 days1-24/+8
| | | | | | | | | The bar was 457 px wide and pushed the close button to 397..437 px, off a 360 px phone. Delete leaves the lightbox (it stays on the tile's menu: right-click, or press and hold), and below 768 px the bar drops the file name, the zoom label and 100%. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat: keep the sidebar for groups; search in the nav, the rest in the user menuChristophe Besson7 days1-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Search is an icon in the nav, left of the tray button and the bell, and marks itself current on its page. Administration, Node, Create group and Android Sync moved to the user menu, between Settings and the theme, each under the condition it had in the sidebar. The sidebar keeps Public groups and the groups. On a phone, a tablet or the Android application the menu trigger is the avatar alone (max-width 768px or a coarse pointer); the name is the dropdown's first line, one line with an ellipsis. Measured: a 20-character handle put the trigger 159 px off a 320 px screen with search and transfers in the nav, and a 64-character one pushed the dropdown 122 px off the left. Creating a group is a desktop-application feature by design: a hand-typed #/create-group no longer opens the form in a browser, and QUICKSTART step 6 now says to use the desktop application instead of the browser. test_layout_responsive read only the first 768px media block; it reads them all now. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat: spread a large download over eight connectionsChristophe Besson7 days1-0/+179
| | | | | | | | | One WebRTC connection carries 5 to 6 MB/s whatever the line can do. A leased download of 64 MB or more now opens seven more to its node, and a lease serves the other connections of its device in its group. Measured through the whole stack: 5 MB/s before, 24 after. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(android): back up WhatsApp's own chat backups, and its media if askedChristophe Besson8 days1-1/+12
| | | | | | | | A WhatsApp section takes WhatsApp's folder through the picker, sends its encrypted Databases and Backups (not the dated copies of earlier weeks) into <folder>/<account>-whatsapp, and names the restore set in the manifest. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(android): back up the files of folders the person choosesChristophe Besson8 days1-0/+12
| | | | | | | | A Files section takes folders through the system picker (no storage permission), refuses DCIM, Pictures and Movies, skips what the photo backup sends, and runs on the photo backup's own runner into <folder>/<account>-drive. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(photos): show a phone's clips in their albumsChristophe Besson8 days1-0/+170
| | | | | | | | Videos in a photo folder are thumbnailed by the node, counted and marked in the album, and played in the group's video player from the lightbox; the slideshow passes them by. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(android): back the calendars up as an iCalendar fileChristophe Besson8 days1-0/+9
| | | | | | | A Calendar section sends every calendar the person can edit, as a dated .ics, into <folder>/<account>-calendar once a day when it changed. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(android): back text messages up, in a build Play does not getChristophe Besson8 days1-0/+9
| | | | | | | | A Messages section sends the SMS added since the last copy, as restorable <smses> XML, into <folder>/<account>-messages/YYYY. A play flavor has neither READ_SMS nor the code that reads messages; full is the default. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(android): one backup destination, a group the account owns aloneChristophe Besson8 days1-11/+29
| | | | | | | | Chosen once at the top of Android Sync for every kind; photos and contacts go into <folder>/<account>-photos and -contacts. Owner and sole member are checked at set-up and before every run. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(hub): delete a photo from the Photos appChristophe Besson8 days1-0/+285
| | | | | | | On a right-clicked tile and in the lightbox bar, after a confirmation, for the node's operator or the photo's uploader, as in Files. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(hub): photo backup moves to its own Android Sync pageChristophe Besson8 days1-3/+4
| | | | | | | A Phone section of the side menu leads to it, on the Android application only; Settings no longer holds it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat: back up the phone's photos to a group, once a day on Wi-FiChristophe Besson9 days1-0/+182
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The Android application sends the photos taken on the phone to one folder of one group chosen by the member (docs/MESHBAY_DESIGN.md §9.12). The phone lists MediaStore, keeps a ledger of what was sent and hands each photo's bytes to the page by an opaque token on the packaged origin; the page decides when a run is due and uploads through the existing path, one photo at a time under a slot. - Once a day from the last finished run, on an unmetered network only; "Back up now" asks first on mobile data. Leaving Wi-Fi stops after the file in flight. - Photos already on the phone are sent by default, newest first, under <folder>/YYYY/MM; edits are sent beside the original as -edited-<date>. - Additive by construction: nothing is ever deleted, renamed or replaced on the node, and a photo deleted on the node is not sent again. - A confirmation names the group, owner, members, folder and size when the destination or starting point changes; a lasting refusal (disk full, folder read-only or gone, no longer a member) is said once and retried a day later. - No ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION, so the platform redacts photo locations. - A dataSync foreground service keeps a run going with the screen off. HEIC/HEIF photos are sent but not shown in Photos yet (§15.2). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(hub): say "N groups unreachable" on Search for a few seconds, not for good0.18Christophe Besson13 days1-1/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | The line sat above the results for as long as the page was open. It is now said once a cross-group pass is over, for five seconds, in the same passing note as "Link copied" — moved out of copy-link.js into note.js (`say(text, ms)`), one note at a time for the whole page. The `.search-unreachable` rule goes with the line it styled. The copy-link probe now also checks in Chrome that the note goes by itself. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* test(hub): join from an invitation link and land under the group's handleChristophe Besson13 days1-3/+20
| | | | | | | | | | | The invitation probe listed no groups, so after Join the address stayed the #/group/<id> the button navigated to and the group links' rewrite to #/name@owner was never exercised on that path. A third case has the hub list the group once joined, as it does: the group page opens, the address shows the handle without a history entry of its own, and the code still never reaches the hub. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat: copy a file's or folder's #/name@owner link from Files, Music, Photos ↵Christophe Besson13 days1-0/+264
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | and Search "Copy link" puts the address group-link.js resolves on the clipboard, on the hub's origin rather than the page's, so a link copied in the desktop application is not app://meshbay. Files offers it for one row, from the right-click menu or the toolbar with one row ticked (a phone's way in); Music on one track's menu, whose dots a phone has; Photos on a right-clicked tile and in the lightbox's bar. The video player and the file preview carry a link button next to Download. Applications get a `linkFor(entry | folderPath)` prop (MESHBAY_DESIGN.md §9.2) and offer the action only when it names a link. The group page builds it from the hub's row; Search from each result's own group and its path before the merged views prefixed it, and names no link for a folder of the merged tree, which a group name alone does not identify. harness/copy_link_probe.py mounts the three applications in Chrome and reads what reached the clipboard. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat: open a group, a folder or a file from a #/name@owner linkChristophe Besson13 days1-0/+176
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A group can now be reached by the handle shown under its name, and a path after it points inside the group: #/name@owner/root/dir/file downloads the file and opens Files on its folder; a folder opens Files there. The handle is resolved in the client against the account's own /v1/groups/mine, so no hub route answers for a name and nobody can probe for one. While a group is open the address shows the handle (replace, no history entry); a linked path is taken out of the address once acted on, so a reload does not download twice. Signing in no longer sends everyone home: the form stood in for the page the address named, and that is where a link opened signed out was going. group-link.js holds the parsing and lookups, executed whole by test_group_link.py; harness/group_link_probe.py drives the router in Chrome. * feat(cast): music on the TV, the music bar as its remoteChristophe Besson13 days1-19/+147
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A cast button in Music's toolbar and in the music bar. With a television chosen, each decrypted track goes to the relay with its cover — found as the album card finds it — and plays there as music with its title, artist and album; the bar's play, pause, seek, previous and next drive the receiver, its clock is the receiver's, and the end of a track there moves the queue on. A film or a photo taking the television pauses the bar; stopping the cast carries the track on locally. Photos and tracks now share one path: a whole file sent to the relay in pieces (binary frames on Android, written to disk there), served at /file with byte ranges and its cover at /cover, and loaded as what the relay says it is. cast:image is gone; cast:chromecast:seek is new. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(cast): photos on the TV, and a television chosen once for the sessionChristophe Besson14 days1-0/+393
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | A cast button in Videos' toolbar, at the top of Photos, in an album's bar and in the lightbox, in a group and in Search alike. A television chosen there is kept for the session: a film opened plays on it with the player as its remote from the start, and a photo opened in the lightbox is shown on it, scaled to 1920x1080, upright, as JPEG. The lightbox gains a slideshow. The relay serves one photo at /image behind the stream's token, on the desktop and on Android; the shell, not the page, decides that the receiver loads it as a picture. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(client): a seek's first segments are held while it lands, not droppedChristophe Besson2026-10-031-2/+5
| | | | | | | | They are the new stream, header first. Dropped, a cast relay restarted at the landing got no ftyp/moov and the receiver gave up; they are now replayed in order once reinitAt/resumeAt is done. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix: an identity signs a named kind, and a device approval answers a requestChristophe Besson2026-09-301-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | The desktop main process builds every transcript itself from fields (transcripts.js) and signs no raw bytes; the page's identity has the same contract (crypto.js transcriptFor). The keyring seals no bundle while browser access is off. On the node, device_add must redeem a pending request filed by the same keys, and device_revoke is signed under its own prefix (meshbay:device_revoke:v1), so a retirement signature admits nothing. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(client): the desktop application keeps M and every node identity in its ↵Christophe Besson2026-09-301-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | main process keyring.js derives, opens, mints, seals, signs and agrees there; the page gets public keys and a handle. Argon2 comes from the page's own WebAssembly build (Electron's crypto has none). Without OS key storage the page keeps its keys as a browser does. A node's bundle is settled after connecting, re-sealed when the key changed. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* refactor(hub): the transport holds an identity, never a private keyChristophe Besson2026-09-301-2/+3
| | | | | | | | Two public keys, sign() and shared(); the apps take transport.signFn. What holds the keys (this page, or the desktop main process) is the identity's business alone. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat: bundles sealed per node under the passphrase and the hub's pepperChristophe Besson2026-09-302-13/+45
| | | | | | | | | The session key is M = HKDF(Argon2(passphrase) || pepper, account id); each node's bundle key and the playlist key derive from it. Bundles are MBK3, bound to account and node; MBK1/MBK2 are refused by name, never replaced silently. Playlists move to key v2 and are re-sealed over unreadable node copies. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix: only the owner decides who hosts a group, and nobody is made a member ↵Christophe Besson2026-09-302-0/+376
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | unasked - hub: a node may host a group only if its account owns it or the owner approved that node (new `group_hosts`). Membership was the ceiling, and every member holds the group key, so any member's node could register as a host and be the one clients kept. A node claiming a group it may not host is recorded as a request; the owner is notified once and approves or refuses it (GET/POST/DELETE /v1/groups/{id}/hosts[/{node_id}]), which takes effect on a connected node at once. - hub: an owner adding a username creates an invitation (new `group_invitations`), accepted or declined by the invitee (/v1/groups/invitations, /{id}/invitation/accept|decline). Until then the group is not listed, not dialled, not searched and not in any token. Invitation links, open joins and group creation still make members directly: they are the account's own act. - hub: the MNP token names only the group it is minted for (group_id is now required), so a node operator no longer learns a member's other groups. - SPA: invitations on the home page; invited people and host requests in the group's settings; the transport sends group_id. Ten catalogues. - Browser probes for both screens, run in Chrome and Firefox. - Design §5.2, §7.2, §7.3, AV32, AV33; protocol §6.3; user guide. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(hub): say so when a lazily loaded view cannot be fetched0.16Christophe Besson2026-09-281-0/+151
| | | | | | | | A tab opened before a hub deploy got 404 for every module it had not loaded yet, and lazy.js kept its spinner for good. It now shows a notice with a Reload button and logs the failure. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(hub): keep a show's detail modal open under the playerChristophe Besson2026-09-281-0/+266
| | | | | | | Closing the player lands back on the season being watched, with the episode just started marked. A film's modal still closes on Play. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* test: make both suites pass on WindowsChristophe Besson2026-09-272-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Most of these failed on Windows for reasons that had nothing to do with the code under test, which is how real Windows defects hid among them: - Read and write files as UTF-8, and talk to Node in UTF-8. read_text(), write_text() and subprocess text=True use the locale codepage, cp1252 on Windows: "é", "—" and "→" arrived as "?" or crashed, some sixty tests. Calls to PowerShell and schtasks are left alone -- they answer in the console codepage. - Import ESM harness modules by file URL (as_uri): a raw "C:\..." path is not a module specifier. - test_cli_golden: mask the tmp path in its JSON-escaped form, spell it the POSIX way, record on Linux, mask the protocol version (the recording had failed everywhere since the MNP 4.0 bump) and argparse's version-dependent quoting; point USERPROFILE at the tmp home, or `member invite` and `operator pair` wrote their codes into the developer's profile. - test_disk_io_off_loop: expect what a free loop can reach on the platform's timer, 15.6 ms on Windows, not an assumed 5 ms. - test_root_paths_are_operator_only: expect the OS's spelling of the path. - test_audio_meta_cache: find ffprobe with shutil.which. Node suite on Windows: 1489 passed, none failed. Hub suite: 3 failures left, all older than this change (two SQLite concurrency tests, one transfer resume). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* test(hub): read the transport wherever it is splitChristophe Besson2026-09-254-5/+20
| | | | | | | | | spa_source.transport_files() takes the classic transport*.js scripts from the hub's shell, in load order. Every test that read transport.js reads them all, the Node harnesses run them joined as one scope, the chat probe loads each, and the desktop shell must load them in order. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* test(hub): read the search code wherever it is splitChristophe Besson2026-09-253-3/+12
| | | | | | | | The Node harnesses take one file or several, and the tests that lift connectToGroup and the pool out of search-page.js as text take them from spa_source, which also reads connection-pool.js once it exists. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(hub): Search reaches each group with one offer, and a busy hub is not a ↵0.15Christophe Besson2026-09-243-2/+307
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | dead node The other half of the 4G failure. The page negotiated every group twice: the sweep opened a connection, read the index and closed it, then the warm-up opened the same group again. The sweep, the warm-up and the tiles each had a concurrency ceiling of their own, and together they went past what the hub admits per account. Whatever the hub refused was then reported as "node unreachable" and remembered as down, which put that group last next time. - Every connection goes through ConnectionPool, which holds the page's one ceiling (six at once, sized for twenty groups on a phone) and keeps what the sweep opened for the tiles. A visit costs one offer per group. A refresh costs none for a connection that answers a four-second ping, and a connection that died while the phone slept is replaced, not waited on. - A connection whose index is being read is held against eviction. With more groups than the pool keeps, it was otherwise the least recently used one. - Negotiations still under way when the page closes close what they get, and a sweep cut short that way remembers nobody as down. - transport.js sends an offer again on 429, 502 or 503, honouring Retry-After, with jittered waits of about twenty seconds at worst. Search counts each retry as progress. A 404, 403 or 504 still fails at once, so a dead node costs no time. The fan-out tests assumed a ceiling of three and were re-measured: four dead groups of twelve now hold nothing back, even on a first visit. The pool and the retry run as shipped code, lifted as text, against a fake clock. Each guard was checked by removing it and seeing its test fail. * feat(hub): open, create and join invitation links in the interfaceChristophe Besson2026-09-231-0/+181
| | | | | | | | | | | #/invite takes the link out of the address on load and keeps it in the tab through registration and sign-in; joining is one click, only the ticket goes to the hub, and the code goes only to the node the link names once it has signed its challenge. Members tab gains "Invite by link" (shared e-mail box, pending list, cancel both halves); home page takes a pasted link. Browser probe drives the real app, signed out and in. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(hub): right-click menu in the Files tabChristophe Besson2026-09-231-0/+191
| | | | | | | | The toolbar's actions on the row under the pointer, sharing one action list with the toolbar — which keeps showing what does not apply, disabled, while the menu leaves it out. A count only where more than one item is concerned. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix: ask in the page instead of native confirm/alertChristophe Besson2026-09-211-4/+9
| | | | | | | | A native confirm() or alert() leaves the desktop client unable to type until the window is refocused. ask.js draws both in the page; the SPA test now bans all three browser dialogs. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* perf(hub): bound video read-ahead by bytes, not by secondsChristophe Besson2026-09-211-10/+46
| | | | | | | | | | A browser limits bytes, so a bound in seconds had to be sized for the highest-bitrate file and every ordinary one then held a fraction of what the same buffer would have taken. Floored at the old 90 s so nothing pulls less than before, and walked up rather than declared. A refused append now waits for an eviction instead of retrying on every tick. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* test(hub): the Firefox probe stops opening the developer's own profileChristophe Besson2026-09-191-14/+33
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | `test_sticky_header.py[firefox]` failed with twelve setup errors whenever a Firefox was open, and the note in CLAUDE.md said to close it and trust the Chrome half meanwhile. The cause was not snap's single instance: the harness pointed HOME at a throwaway directory, snapd sets its own HOME inside the sandbox, and that directory came back empty on every run — so Firefox opened the real profile, which the open browser locks. `--profile` needs a path the sandbox can see: the snap has a private /tmp, and its home interface grants no hidden directory. Both refusals print "Firefox is already running", which it also prints when nothing is. 24 passed in 15s with a Firefox open throughout, against 12 errors in 60s. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(hub): the members table stops hanging off the side of a phoneChristophe Besson2026-09-191-1/+17
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | `.admin-table` column heads are `white-space: nowrap`, which meets a translated string: "Username" is one word, "Nom d'utilisateur" is three, uppercased with letter-spacing on top. The heads alone overflowed a 360px window by 11px, and on Android an overflowing document takes every sticky element with it. 11px was only what could be measured: the probe served no members, so the table measured its headers and nothing else. With one realistic username in it the same page overflowed by 248px, at 420px-wide windows too. The cells get `word-break: break-word`, as `.file-name` already had. * Merge origin/main: the tree-wide ruff pass beside the Music reconnect workChristophe Besson2026-09-197-12/+22
|\
| * style: the 98 ruff could not fix, so the linter is a signal againChristophe Besson2026-09-196-11/+22

These are the ones needing a decision, and the point of doing them is that `ruff check .` now passes: a linter reporting 98 known-acceptable findings reports nothing, because the next real one arrives invisible. **Lines over 100 (70).** Mostly wrapped where they stood. Two exceptions: the aligned trailing comments in `protocol.py`'s message table were shortened rather than wrapped, because wrapping one row of a table breaks the table; and in `models.py` the column comments moved above their columns for the same reason. **Imports below the first statement (14).** `csam.py` kept its FastAPI imports under a section header halfway down the file; two node tests had a constant and a `pytestmark` wedged between two import blocks. Moved, not suppressed. **Bindings nothing reads (4).** Three in tests, where the call stays and only the name goes — `_user(client, "listener")` is there to create the user, not to return one. The fourth was in `revocation.py` and was not a lint finding at all: `_connect_and_listen` opened an httpx stream to the WebSocket URL, did `pass`, and then opened the real connection through the `websockets` library. One pointless request per connect, left over from before that library was used directly. Removed, and `httpx` with it. **`l` as a name (4)**, **semicolons (6)** in the POC spikes, and the rest. 2893 passed, the same count as the two commits before it. `meshbay_node/revocation.py` is worth a decision separately: 154 lines that nothing imports, superseded by `hub_client.maintain_ws`'s `on_revocation`. This commit only stopped it failing the linter. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
| * style: ruff's own fixes, mechanically appliedChristophe Besson2026-09-191-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | `ruff check .` had gone unrun long enough to report 568 errors, which is the same as having no linter: the next real finding would have been invisible in the noise. This is the 521 it fixes by itself, in 173 files, and nothing else — the 98 it cannot fix are the next commit. What actually changed: import sorting (225), imports nobody used (87, none of them a re-export — no `__init__.py` is touched, which was the one way this could have broken an import elsewhere), `datetime.timezone.utc` to `datetime.UTC` (69) and `asyncio.TimeoutError` to `TimeoutError` (18), both plain aliases on the 3.12 this project requires, `Optional[X]` to `X | None` (24), and f-strings with nothing to interpolate (19). Checked rather than assumed: every module in the three packages still imports, and the suite is 2893 passed — the same count, test for test, as the merge before it. * | fix(hub): a track with no artist tag reaches the Music gridChristophe Besson2026-09-191-0/+283
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The grid's unit is an album, so a track whose artist tag is empty was drawn nowhere — while `empty` counted it and stayed false, so no message appeared either. An untagged library rendered a toolbar over a blank page, with every track one mode-switch away and nothing saying so. It gets a card, the same shape the singleton folding already mints. No cover is looked up for it, or for any album this file invented: the release name is one the browser wrote, and the request cannot match. music_untagged_probe.py renders the real grid and reads the page back.
